Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata : Born on March 3rd, 1839 in a Parsi family at Navasari, Jamshetji was educated at the Elphinstone College, Bombay. A firm believer in the area of industrial self sufficiency for India, Jamshetji laid the foundation of Iron and Steel Works at Jamshedpur. Every year on the 3rd March, his birthday is celebrated with extreme jubilation at Jamshedpur and the whole of the town is illuminated in the memory of this Great son of India.

Sir Dorabji Tata : The eldest son of Jamshetji, Dorabji Tata was born on August 27, 1859. He completed his education at Cambridge University and later acquired his degree from St. Xavier's College in 1882. After the death of Jamshetji in 1904, he took upon himself to complete his father's dream. The major part of iron prospecting was done under his supervision. Became the first chairman of Tata enterprise from 1908 to 1932. He was the main force behind developing a model town at Sakchi, which came to be known as Jamshedpur. Sir Dorabji Tata recieved the honour of Knighthood in 1910.
Sir Ratanji Tata : He was the second son of Jamshetji Tata. After completing his education he joined his family business. Whereas his elder brother Sir Dorabji Tata was involved in developing Industrial India, he realised the importance of freedom movement and helped leaders like Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar etc. in the freedom struggle financially and moved ahead in the freedom movement. The great industrialist, social worker and freedom fighter died at the age of 48 in 1918. Sir Ratanji Tata had major contribution in developing Tata enterprise and especially Jamshedpur
Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhai Tata : JRD Tata assumed the chairmanship of the Tata Sons Ltd. at the tender age of 34. Under his headship the Tata enterprise ventured into consultancy services, information technology, art and culture, consumer goods, industrial products and many more. He was also the pioneer of civil aviation and introduced air transport in India in 1932 which later became Air India. He was conferred with the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna in 1992. JRD Tata was among the greatest personalities of modern India in the twentieth century.
